Judy Ovitz - Owner

I have always loved horses, dogs, and animals, of all kinds. Sparked by my daughters interest, I began taking lessons and competing later in life.  Mike Dunn was my first trainer and initially helped build AGR Breeding into the fine breeding program that it is today.  Our broodmare band has produced champions at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the AQHA World Show, The Reichert Celebration, NSBA World Championship Show, and numerous other futurities and circuits across the country.

Now, I have a very talented and dedicated team that is taking AGR to a new level of competition in all areas of breeding, training, and showing.

Come and see us in beautiful Ojai, California and pick out your next champion.  We promise you will not be disappointed.

Sonya Lyon - Breeding Manager

I have been 'horse crazy' my entire life. I started taking riding lessons at the age of 6 and little did I know I had begun my career. My high school years were spent in a boarding school in England where they had an amazing horse program. I attended various equestrian colleges in Canada and the United States to further my education. I have worked in many disciplines, including harness horses that involved long hours and little pay. My mother once commented to my brother, "there has been so much money spent on her education. Why is she mucking stalls for peanuts?" He simply replied, "She's happy!" It's true, I am the happiest when I can be with the horses. It has been a blessing that along the way thee have been a number of people who have mentored and influenced me. One of my most positive influences has been Leslie Steele, a reputable hunter jumper trainer based in Calabasas, California. When my husband at the time transferred jobs, she encouraged me to start my own business in Paso robles, California. There I had a rehabilitation, retirement, and mare and foal care facility. I had to give my business up when my husband was transferred again; later, I gave him up.

In my search for a job, I contacted a good friend and previous client, John Endicott. He is a successful hunter jumper trainer who had sent me mares and foals over the years. He introduced Judy to me, and from then on, my life was never the same. After spending some time with Judy, we realized that we had attended the same shows previously and knew a lot of the same people; our goals and interests were identical. We have grown together and formed a great friendship where work is no longer work, it's family.

When I started my life with horses, pleasure horses were my favorite. After a long journey to the racetrack, hunter circuit, and dressing ring, my life has come full circle. I could not be happier being involved with some of the top AQHA pleasure horses and watching all of my 'kids' grown up and continue their careers in the show pen.
